Camden fencers have tea with the Mayor
On 15 March 2007, fencers from the Camden Fencing Club were invited to tea with Cllr. Jill Fraser - the Mayor of Camden.
Fencers and their parents gathered at Town Hall and were greeted by Lynne Boyne from the Mayor’s Office and taken directly to the Mayor's Parlour for tea. As the fencers entered the parlour, the Mayor, Cllr Jill Fraser, was there to personally meet and greet them. On a large buffet table, a variety of finger sandwiches, delicious pastries and plenty to drink was on offer to all. During tea, each fencer had the opportunity to chat with the Mayor and ask questions about the wonderful memorabilia.
The fencers enjoyed a tour of the Parlour learning about the Mayoral regalia and civic gifts on display such as the Holborn and Hampstead Mace as well as the Camden Mayoral Chain and Badge worn by the Mayor herself. The Mayor then led the fencers into Council Chamber allowing them to test the microphones and comment on current political issues.
The afternoon concluded with the Mayor reminding the fencers to keep up with their studies and their fencing!
